ITALY: Bormio - World Cup race venue in an hisotric town.
The resort
Bormio is an up market ski resort with a long
history; it has Romanesque architecture and
its own Roman baths. Located in the central
Alps Lombardy region, the town has a distinctly
Italian flavour with a multitude of shops, cafes
and restaurants from which to watch the world
go by.
Apres-ski
There is a wide range of additional activities that can be arranged as part of your itinerary that includes: Swimming, Thermal Baths, Pizza night, Bowling (Sondrio), Night-skiing, Cinema, Disco.
Ski facts: Resort range: 1225 - 3017 on Stelvio Glacier.
Difficult: 9% Intermediate: 43% Easy: 48%
The skiing
The skiing is fairly limited despite the international reputation of the
resort. Skiing is located on Cima Banca. The 39km available are mainly
for beginners and intermediates as only 9% of the resort is for advanced
skiers. The advantage of skiing at Bormio is that it's an excellent place
to learn. The ski schools are highly respected and snow conditions are
generally reliable with high snow sure pistes supported by snow cannon.
The lift pass covers adjacent resorts such as Santa Caterina but are not
connected, except by bus.
Your accommodation
We work with several hotels in the town. They have been selected for their quality and location in relation to both the town and the slopes. Our main 3* hotel is located in a quiet part of the resort, close to the Bormio
2000 cable-car and a short walk from the town centre. It has recently
been renovated and offers a high standard of comfort, including both
international and local cuisine, a bar with lunch counter at the base of
the pistes and a large sun terrace. Rooms are well equipped with a safe
and en-suite facilities.
