Italy: Claviere - old character village with doorstep skiing
The Resort
Claviere is a small resort right on the border with France. The fantastic
400kms of ski runs in the Milky Way area connects both Claviere and
neighbouring Montgenèvre in France, in addition to Sauze, Sestriere,
Sansicario and Cesana.
It is Italy's oldest resort and in the words of one visitor is 'a genuine Italian village with lots of charm'. This is a great place to stay for a more peaceful entry to the massive ski area. There are only ten hotels, a few shops and restaurants and very quiet nightlife.

The characteristic mountain village architecture of Claviere is a charming blend of old and new, set amidst breathtaking scenery and the locals claim it has the best snow conditions in the Milky Way. One of the smaller legs of the Milky Way spider (400km of lift-linked runs), Clavière offers access to the French resort of Montgenèvre. There is a flat nursery area in the village and a long blue starting above the tree line for beginners, whilst intermediates will enthuse over the tree lined runs back to resort. The local lift pass includes a day at Montgenevre and a day on the Milky Way circuit.
Your accommodation
Our traditional 3* hotel is well positioned, only
a couple of minutes from the nursery slopes and the centre of the
village. The hotel has spacious public rooms with a lounge, bar, TV corner and
video. There is also a basement taverna popular with visitors and locals alike.
The rooms are mainly 2-4 bedded, whilst in the new wing, where there is a further
lounge, they can accommodate upto 6 persons. Some rooms have balconies.
The hotel has a reputation for the quality and quantity of food that is provided
and its hospitality is second to none

Activities may include swimming, ice skating, use of the sports centre, quiz, disco, meal out or a skidoo ride.
