Group Cycling Holidays In Burgundy
Beautiful countryside, the bracing outdoors, friends, the freedom of two wheels… and a glass of red. There isn’t much to match group cycling holidays in Burgundy!
Historically Burgundy's greatest period was probably during the 15th century when it was one of the richest regions of Europe. And the greatest time to tour this wonderful region is probably… now. Much of the art and architecture from a delightfully decadent period survives today amidst breathtaking countryside. The enthusiasts at InspiredTravel.net have sniffed out the best bits – the finest vineyards, the most pleasing landscape and the most satisfying cycle routes – to create a pair of potential off-the-peg holidays that will be anything but run-of-the-mill. These are group cycling holidays where the wheels turn by day and the wine flows by night and the speed of both is dependent entirely on you.
Beaune is the centre of the wine-making industry at the heart of the prestigious vineyards of the Cotes de Beaune and Cotes de Nuits. It’s a fertile landscape where the natural geography is closely linked to its heritage. This is an area waiting to be explored; its rich in history, and tiny villages, mill-houses, flamboyant chateaux and parish churches create a rich tapestry of history and tradition that feels almost tangible. And of course it is hard to ignore the fact that the area is best known for its vineyards which produce some of the highest quality and most expensive wines in France.
