The Resort
Kitzbühel is a small town in the Tyrol province of German
speaking Austria. The town’s population is about 10,000
and at an elevation of 800 meters, is one of the most
picturesque mountain towns of Europe. Kitzbühel is a world
famous ski and holiday resort located between Salzburg
and Innsbruck. If there is one attribute that sets Kitzbühel
apart from any other skiing resort, then it is definitely
style. Tradition and a cosmopolitan atmosphere combine
to produce a distinct charm. The town boasts charming
cobblestone streets and painted buildings with the main
part of town surrounded, in part, by ancient stone walls.
The Language School
Our language school in Kitzbühel is located in a leafy suburb just
15 minutes walk from the town centre, near to local facilities. There
are regular buses to the ski slopes and to other parts of town.
Class sizes are small, with some capacity for different ability levels
for the group so that students learn German quickly, with lots of
personal attention. The ‘Standard’ German language course is 20
lessons/ week. This is intensive enough to ensure that you make
rapid progress with your German, but still leaves enough free time
to explore Kitzbühel, go skiing or snowboarding. The language
school is family run, and was founded in 1981. It was accredited by
the governmental body Campus Austria (an organization of German
language schools) in 1990. Teachers are native German speakers,
and are from different parts of the German speaking world.

The Skiing
As part of the afternoon activities the school focuses on
German and skiing in winter and spring, organizing other
free time activities and some excursions during the summer
and autumn. Skiing starts at the earliest in mid-November,
provided there is enough snow. The main season with all 67
lifts operating starts before Christmas, lasting normally until
end of Easter, some lifts operating as long as into May.
The hotel is close to the public ski bus stop. The group will
travel together to the slopes where lessons will be arranged
for the afternoons. All group members will be in lessons
according to their ability.
The Accommodation
Students are accommodated in one of two hotels in the
town or in the village of Aurach. Lessons are held at the
hotel. Rooms are 2-4 bed for students and singles for
teachers.
